Privacy policy

Overview

MyCinema helps you discover horror and thriller movies and check US viewing options. It does not host or stream video. This policy explains what is stored, why, and the choices you have. You can browse the catalog without an account.

Information we store

When you create an account we store your name, email address, a securely hashed password, and your role. We also store the TMDB movie IDs you mark as favorites and the TMDB movie ID with the date for each title you mark as watched.

If you save favorites without signing in, they stay in your browser's local storage on your device and are not sent to our server.

If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name and verified email address with us. We use them only to create or match your account and sign you in. Google handles that sign-in under the Google privacy policy.

How we use it

Account data is used only to authenticate you, sync your watchlist and viewing history across devices, and operate the service. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies and sessions

Signed-in sessions use a signed, HTTP-only cookie so the server can keep you logged in. We do not set advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Third-party movie data

Movie metadata, artwork, and US watch offers come from TMDB, with provider data supplied by JustWatch through TMDB. Our server requests TMDB with a token that is never exposed to the browser. Poster and backdrop images are loaded by your browser from TMDB's image service, so TMDB may see your IP address and browser details, as described in the TMDB privacy policy and the JustWatch privacy policy.

Logs

The application writes request and error output to standard logs collected by the host. Those logs may include an IP address, user agent, timestamp, and the requested path. They are used to operate and secure the service.

Analytics and advertising

MyCinema does not currently embed third-party analytics or advertising trackers. If that changes, this policy will be updated and, where required, consent will be requested.

Email and password reset

Password-reset messages are generated by the application. Until a transactional email provider is configured, reset links are written to application logs instead of being delivered by email.

Backups and retention

The database is backed up so the service can be restored. Backups may contain account, favorite, and viewing-history data. They are kept on a scheduled rotation and are encrypted off-host; a deleted account can remain in older backups until those backups rotate out.

Your choices and deletion

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deleting your account removes your name, email, favorites, and viewing history from the active database. To ask a privacy question, contact privacy@mycinema.space.

Children

MyCinema is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page. This site is operated for mycinema.space.
